He took over support of the add-on a few years ago but does not use that capability or have experience with the restore process. I have contacted the add-on author for additional information about how the restore would work. The incremental feature is "just files modified after last backup."
There is an option to do incremental backups which would greatly reduce the disk space requirements and also allow setting the frequency to a shorter ( e.g. My full backup requires about 7.5 GB since I have about 20,000 messages saved. I have it set up currently to do a full backup on a regular basis and it seems to be working fine. I'm recently started using an add-on to automate backing up my profile which includes all of the messages, folders, account information and address book.
